Chitwan jungle safari offers a variety of flora and fauna, unique to the area along with some of the world’s most exotic wildlife and vegetation. It is a dense tropical / subtropical forest and is home to 43 species of mammals where the famous elusive Royal Bengal tigers, prowl and endangered great one-horned rhinoceroses roam. Other animals found in Chitwan National park are leopards, wild elephants, variety of deer, bears, four horned antelopes, porcupines, monkey, languor’s, pythons, gigantic dolphins, two species of crocodiles – the vegetarian Gharials and flesh eating Mardh muggers. For the bird watching and nature lover, Chitwan is a paradise with over 450 species of exotic birds, many of which are migratory.

Chitwan enjoys a tropical monsoon climate with relatively high humidity throughout the year. Chitwan lies on the hotter part of Nepal and temperature generally reaches up to 36 degree Celsius in the summer. Chitwan national park is mostly covered by Sal tree. Chitwan also houses a Gharial conservation Project inside the national park area. Chitwan national park is also home to Bengal tiger and latest count suggest that there are some 180 of these wild cats inside the park. If you want to see this magnificent creature in its natural habitat, Chitwan is the best place for it. Chitwan also houses one horned rhino which is an endangered species. More than 450 rhinos can be found in the park and there is a great chance that you will spot one of these giants during your elephant or Jeep safari inside the park. Bird lovers have recorded some 543 different species of bird in the park and the park has become home to some rare birds like grass warblers, swamp francolin, grey-crowned primia, lesser adjutant and Bengal florican.

How to reach Chitwan:
Either take a 20 minutes flight (operates daily) from Kathmandu to Bharatpur and drive about 15 kilometers to get into the park area or we could take 5 hours bus riding from Kathmandu by tourist coach as well as get there by exciting white-water rafting.
