Langtang region lies directly north of the Kathmandu valley just south of Tibetan border. This is the closest Himalayan trekking destination from Kathmandu. This is third popular trekking destination in Nepal. All the trekking routs in this region are better managed by Langtang national Park office. Langtang National Park was established in 1976 to conserve the unique flora and fauna of the region. The area extends 1710 sq. km. The langtang valley is surrounded by high peaks of great appeal. It has become famous trekking region since the British mountaineer Bill Tilman described it as the most beautiful valley in the world.

Day 1
Kathmandu to Chisapani (1940m) About an hour drive to Sundarijal and trekking about 5 hours to Chisapani. Overnight stay at lodge.
Day 2
Chisapani to Gulbhangyang (2130m) Trek about 6 hours, Overnight stay at lodge.
Day 3
Gulbhangyang to Tharepati (3,000m) Trek about 6 hours, Overnight stay at lodge.
Day 4
Tharepati to Tarkegyang (2,740m): Trek about 7 hours, Overnight stay at lodge.
Day 5
Tarkegyang to Shermathang (2,590m) Trek about 6 hours Overnight stay at lodge.
Day 6
Shemathang to Melamchipul Bazar (870m) Trek about 5 hours Overnight stay at lodge.
Day 7
Melamchipul Bazar to Kathmandu: Either drives by bus or private transport (costs extra)

Helambu trek is one of the less visited tourist destination which lies very close to Kathmandu valley. Helambu lies at a distance of just 75 Kilometers north east of Kathmandu valley. The trekking begin from Sundarijal which can be reached by driving about 13 Kilometer from Thamel. The Helambu trekking area is the home of Sherpa people with their unique culture and tradition. The Helambu trekking is a part of Langtang national parks. The Helambu trek is ideal trekking destination for people with short holiday and for people who cannot go on a more strenuous trek.

The main attractions of the Helambu trek includes historic Buddhist Monasteries, picturesque Himalayan views, incredible Sherpa settlements, friendly people as well as enchanting landscape. The best place to view mountians are Chisapani and Kakani and Melamchi village, Tarke Ghyang and Shermathang are more popular for their cultural aspect.
