In Hinduism, Lord Shiva, the destroyer of ignorance and illusion, resides at the summit of Mt. Kailash and is in a state of constant meditation along with his wife Parvati. Thousands of pilgrims go to mount Kailash every year and this tredition can be dated back to thousands of years. Pilgrims of various religious believe walk around Mount Kailash on foot (Korra) hoping for a good fortune. The tour or Korra of Mount Kailash is done in clockwise direction by Buddhists and Hindus whereas Jain and Bönpo religions do it counterclockwise. The path around Mt. Kailash is about 52 km long.

Hindus consider lake Mansarovar as a symbol of purity and a sip of this holy water will take their soul abode of Lord Shiva after death. Just like Mount Kailash, Lake Mansarovar is a holy place with religious importance and people from India, Nepal, Tibet and other countries travel here in thousands each year. A holy bath in lake Mansarovar and drinking its water is believed to cleanse all sins committed in this lifetime.

Our overland tour of Mansarovar and Kailash starts from Kathmandu crossing China Nepal border and then to the town of Zhangmu and Nyalam the same day. From Nyalam we continue to Mt Kailash and Mansarovar. Once we are at Mt Kailash we begin Korra (travel around mount Kailash) and then take bath in the holy Lake Mansarovar. After the holy bath in Mansarovar and Kailash Korra, we drive back to Kathmandu following the same path or proceed to Lhasa and catch the flight or train for onward destination.
