Nar Phu Valley Trek

The Nar Phu valley trek is one of the newly opened trekking destination in Nepal. The village of Nar and Phu is especially inhabited by people of Tibetan origin. This trek combines high peaks / high passes, glaciers, narrow canyons, lovely forests, amazing rock formations, yaks pastures, Monasteries, unique and amazing Himalayan cultures which remains relatively unspoiled for centuries.

The Nar Phu village lie in the Annapurna region. The entrance to Nar Phu valley trek lies on the way to Annapurna circuit trek. The entrance to Nar Phu valley trek can be easily missed because of the narrow and forested entrance from Koto. The trek to Nar and Phu village will take you to high altitude grazing settlements, ancient villages, unique dialect and high snow-peaks.

The village of Nar and Phu was explored in detail during 1950s. Since then the Nar Phu valley trek was closed for foreign trekkers until late 2002. But at the beginning of 2003 the region was opened for trekkers but is classified as protected trekking destination and required special permit and at least two foreigners for Nar Phu valley trek. Very few westerners have explored this area. The gateway village to Nar Phu valley trek is Koto and lies nearby Upper Manang.

Trekking to Nar and Phu valley requires camping equipment because only basic lodge are availability at the moment in some places. Mesmerizing Himalayan panorama view, high passes trek, unique and interesting villages or human settlement are really studious in this Tibetan Buddhist world. The trekkers and Buddhist pilgrims from around the world rewards to go up to Phu village to visit the renowned Tashi Lha Khang monastery and receive a blessing from Lama Karma Sonam Rinpochhe. Along with spending plenty of time at these colorful villages, we explore the high alpine valleys above Phu and cross Kang La pass (5315-meter) and reach Ngawal and touch the main Annapurna circuit trail. This trek continue to Thorang La pass route and you will easily realize the difference between Nar-Phu and rest of Annapurna region trek.
